ABOUT US
Rally At The River has quickly grown into a Florence, Alabama tradition.

It all started in early 2002 when Peggy and her friends decided to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Peggy thought that the rally, set for June of that year, would be a singular event as she and her friends all had full time jobs and families that filled their lives.

But then, on July 13th, 2002, Peggy's son, Adam, was in a horrific car accident. He was on life support for 12 weeks and after months in the hospital, Adam was transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA., where he began a long and difficult road to rehabilitation.
Adam had to learn how to live all over again… how to walk, feed himself, brush his teeth. Adam’s recovery was a slow and painful and expensive 2 year journey for Adam and his family. Peggy wasn’t able to work during most of Adam’s recovery but was blessed with family, friends and a church who helped Peggy, Adam and their family. And St. Jude was there for Adam and Peggy and their family as well.

Without the help that they received, Peggy and her family would have lost everything during Adams time of need. And thus, a heart-felt determination to help other families in the same situation was born. Peggy knows she’ll never be able to repay the kindness and the support that she and Adam received after Adam’s accident but she can help “pay it forward” for other families by raising money for St. Jude.

Peggy knows how it feels to be a parent watching a child struggle for his life and she knows first- hand what a blessing St. Jude Children’s Hospital is for those families. St. Jude, whose motto is “Finding Cures… Saving Children” and where no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay, is supported 100% by donations raised at benefits like Peggy’s annual Rally At The River. Thanks to millions of people like you, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because St. Jude feels that all a family should worry about is helping their child live. And Peggy agrees! Find out more about St. Jude at www.StJude.org .

“I want to thank each and every person who, year after year, volunteers, donates, participates, and helps me raise money for St. Jude. I know I’ll never be able to pay back all of those who helped me and my family when Adam was hurt so I host the Rally At The River to Benefit St. Jude each year because I know how it feels to see my child fighting for his life and I want to be sure to pay it forward.” Peggy McCollum
